PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Ayrshire Hospice is an extension of an existing building which is being constructed to allow the charity Ayrshire Hospice to continue delivering end of life care to those who need it. It is a sustainable development located on the affluent Racecourse Road in Ayr.  Mclaughlin Harvey delivered this challenging project alongside ABS as the specialist roofing contractor. The goal was to provide a sustainable, high quality space which integrates fully into the existing form of the street but adds a modern twist within the rear curtilage of the property. Collaboration between all parties was therefore paramount throughout the project, to ensure that the resulting design of the building and its roof fit into the traditional architectural style of the area whilst to the rear, the sedum roof provides a biodiverse garden at roof level blending in with the surroundings. The site was very tricky due to its location within a residential area with limited access.
