PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Ashton Building Systems were invited to tender for the refurbishment works to the roof at 53 Hutcheson Street, Glasgow. The Sarnafil roof which had been installed some 15-20 years ago was now out of its guarantee period and showing signs of deterioration beyond repair which made it uneconomical to consider repairs and desirable to overlay the roof coverings with a new Sarnafil single ply roof.

The roof, as can be seen, is very busy with plant and plinths and areas of the roof are leading edges with a 7 storey drop between roof level and ground level. It therefore became apparent to Ashton Building Systems that high levels of risk were associated with this city centre project due to the service littered roof and working at height involved.
